Client information
Privacy notice
Pre-launch requirement: insert the legal entity name, registered address, contact details, ICO registration number (if applicable), processors and retention periods before collecting live enquiries.
Information we collect
We may receive identity and contact details, a short description of your legal matter, relevant dates, and information needed to consider suitable barristers. Please do not send original documents or unnecessary special-category personal data in an initial enquiry.
Why we use it
We use enquiry information to respond, identify potentially suitable counsel, manage conflicts and administration, protect legal rights, and comply with legal obligations. The lawful basis will depend on the processing and may include steps at your request before a contract, legitimate interests, legal obligation and, where necessary, explicit consent or legal-claims conditions.
Who receives it
Information may be shared on a proportionate basis with prospective barristers or chambers to assess availability, conflicts and suitability. A barrister who accepts instructions acts under their own professional and data-protection obligations. We do not sell personal information.
Retention and security
Information should be retained only for as long as needed for the enquiry, legal obligations and defence of claims. Appropriate technical and organisational safeguards should be used. Email is not guaranteed to be secure.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability, and may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
